Run 175 – Barranco de Quiles, Oria

This write up is somewhat more accurate than the usual because the scribe of the week delegated his responsibilities to:- Grandson and friend.

Tonto will of course receive a down down next hash for dereliction of duty and forced child labour.

It was the local Fiesta at the bar on the side of the mountain, I had been here before and caught up with some of the Hashers including Big Nuts and Puff. It was my friend Kyles first experience and he wasn’t sure what to expect.
We had a few drinks then set off slowly at first until the runners found the trail along the newly laid tarmac road. We started “jogging” but before long we were heading up the mountain, we slipped and slid risking our lives at times but of course Puff had to go one better by performing cartwheels for us, unfortunately he had the camera so no evidence.
We carried on over the mountain shouting ON ON and blowing whistles when we found the marks laid by Norman Bates the Hare.
The views on top were stunning, but our legs were scratched and scarred by the dry plants and bushes, but it’s all part of the fun.
We got down to the Rambla where some of the group found a pile of rubbish and went “skip ratting” to find things to sell ??
We started climbing again, out of the Rambla and up to a wash house where the Hares had kindly left beer and soft drinks to cool in the cold spring water where we rested a while before continuing up to the finish at the Bat cave spring where the circle was formed and more beer and crisps were consumed, we sang some songs and got merry and my friend Kyle had a down down for being a virgin and for his own acrobats on the mountain. More singing and drinking and down downs led by the RA Kingfisher.
Once the circle had finished we went back to the Fiesta bar where the Hashers sat around a large table eating and drinking while Puff impressed the locals with his “magic”.

I love Hashing because there are people to have a laugh with and you’re keeping fit. Another great Hash, We will definitely be going again. ON ON.

Lone Ranger. & Kyle.
