The Indalo Hash House Harriers

The Indalo Hash House Harriers (Indalo H3) are a small, but keen, hash group, we meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. Our members range from teenagers, to people in their 70s (and therefore should know better).

The area we cover is from Mojácar to San Juan on the coast, and Serón to Vélez-Blanco inland, and anywhere between.

We normally have two routes: a main (for the more energetic or clinically insane) and a mini (for the walkers or lazy folk) and are usually between 5-8km. There may be a mid-way refreshment stop, but there certainly is one at the end, alcoholic or not, the choice is yours.

After the run, and ‘rehydration’, we have the ‘circle’ where the fun continues, announcements are made and ‘down-downs’ awarded. From there we may go to an ‘on-after’.

Hashing is NON-COMPETITIVE, therefore, you can run, jog, stroll or stagger, whether you’re a teenager or getting on a bit, you can join in.

The basic aim of the hash is to HAVE FUN, and at the same time, encourage a bit of exercise, without over doing it. We welcome all shapes and sizes, in all stages of degeneration.

RIP Tony

Hi there,

Tony loved the Hash, and always looked forward to events. The last one he organised was on March 8th, just before Covid. International Women’s Day and him in his wig!

After his first stroke, he was out running within a month. The second stroke took much of his mobility and sadly, he didn’t enjoy sitting on the sidelines.

He had a third stroke on December 8th which took his sight and affected him badly. He was getting better but caught the flu whilst in hospital. After being discharged from hospital last Friday, he spent his last days at home. Friends visited and I and his two dogs were right by his side until his last moments.

Please thank all members of Indalo H3 for making Tony’s final years so much fun! He really enjoyed all the forfeits and gallivanting!

A celebration of the life of Tony Penny will take place in the garden of the tanatorio in Mojacar at 3pm. Monday 15th January.

Please do not be sad, he lived a long and exciting life. He asked, if you have something the colour of emerald green, please wear it. 4.30 Drinks and tapas at Noah, just around the corner from Charleston’s in Pueblo Laguna.

Regards to all,

Valerie
